Mindfulness For Self Care Likened to Escitolopram in Effectiveness
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) has shown promising results for managing anxiety, with effects comparable to the antidepressant escitalopram. Recent studies indicate that both MBSR and escitalopram can significantly reduce anxiety symptoms. MBSR, a program developed by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, focuses on mindfulness meditation and body awareness to cultivate present-moment awareness, reduce stress, and improve emotional regulation. A clinical trial published in JAMA Psychiatry in 2022 demonstrated that participants with anxiety disorders who underwent an 8-week MBSR program experienced a similar reduction in anxiety symptoms as those who took escitalopram.
